The Baietan Camel Headquarters is located at the confluence of the Huai and Zhujiang rivers. This project marks the first step in developing Guangzhou’s Baietan CBD, a district poised to become an important financial and cultural hub. The mixed-use landmark seamlessly integrates luxury residential, commercial, and office spaces, setting a new standard for urban regeneration while enhancing the public environment.

As the headquarters for the international clothing company CAMEL, the design emphasises aesthetics to create an iconic and recognisable structure.

Designed to serve as an urban oasis, the Baietan Camel Headquarters combines nature, architecture, and vibrant public life. It improves accessibility to the waterfront, promotes sustainability, and encourages pedestrian movement, all contributing to a lively new identity for Baietan.

A Masterplan Inspired by Water, Greenery and Urban Life

Guangzhou, a city rich in water, history, and nature, showcases its heritage through the Baietan Camel Headquarters. This project features open public spaces, green terraces, and pedestrian-friendly areas that enhance the waterfront.

The design promotes pedestrian flow with a porous ground plane created by rotating the towers, maximising river views and strengthening the connection to the Pearl River. It also includes interconnected plazas, green spaces, and commercial hubs, making the area a vibrant social and cultural destination.

A multi-level connectivity strategy supports this vision, ensuring Baietan’s first development lays the groundwork for the district’s future evolution and encourages community-oriented projects.

A Sculptural Architectural Language

The project’s architectural design features three distinct towers: two luxury residential towers and an office tower that serves as the international headquarters for Camel. These towers are anchored by a lively four-story commercial podium. Careful orientation of the towers allows for unobstructed views of the waterfront while also respecting Guangzhou’s existing skyline.

Urban Integration and Landmark Presence

This project creates an iconic gateway for the new CBD, reinforcing Guangzhou’s identity as a city in dialogue with its natural surroundings.

  1. A New Civic Arrival: The project includes a central town square and a highly active space for public engagement, community events, and leisure.
  2. Multifunctional Bridge: More than a connection, the scenic bridge functions as a viewing deck, event space, and cultural anchor, enhancing accessibility to the riverfront.
  3. A Living Green Corridor: Baietan Camel Headquarters is an extension of Guangzhou’s green infrastructure, integrating rooftop gardens, vertical greenery, and landscaped terraces that blend urban life with natural serenity.

Innovative Design and Sustainability

The design of the towers is strategically placed and oriented to promote natural ventilation, which significantly enhances air circulation and decreases the need for mechanical cooling systems.

Additionally, the project features a variety of green urban spaces, including rooftop gardens, green decks, and shaded public plazas. These elements help create a stronger connection with nature and help mitigate the heat island effect, contributing to a more sustainable and pleasant urban environment.

To enhance sustainability, the use of glass in the façade has been minimised, ensuring that the project’s visual appeal remains intact.

Baietan Camel HQ retail level

The Baietan Camel Headquarters is designed as a destination—a place where work, leisure, and community intersect seamlessly.

  • Retail and Lifestyle Spaces: The commercial podium’s first two floors and a sunken plaza house boutique retail, restaurants, and cultural spaces.
  • Exclusive Residential Living: The luxury residential towers offer residents breathtaking riverfront views, access to a private skydeck with an infinity pool, and world-class amenities.
  • A Workplace of the Future: The office tower features shared sky gardens, collaborative workspaces, and direct connectivity to the public square, fostering a new way of working that prioritizes well-being and flexibility.
