Can Mingrat is a refurbishment project that transforms three early 20th-century houses in Barcelona into a single modern residence.
Over the years, these houses had undergone multiple modifications, and the intervention carefully restores their original character while adapting them to contemporary living.

Respecting History While Looking Forward
The rehabilitation focuses on preserving the architectural essence of the buildings, bringing back key elements that define their identity while removing unnecessary additions. The goal is to create a balance between past and present, allowing the house to retain its history while meeting modern needs.
The exterior has been meticulously rehabilitated, maintaining its original ornamental details and removing elements that no longer contribute to its aesthetics or functionality.

The interior design follows a minimalist approach, enhancing natural light and creating fluid, open spaces that improve circulation and connection between rooms. A curated palette of natural wood, stone, and subtle metallic accents fosters a warm and serene atmosphere, where the old and new coexist effortlessly.

The project embraces modern technologies to optimise comfort, integrating them in a way that respects the building’s historic character. The architecture itself serves as a subtle backdrop, allowing the home’s history to remain present while offering a space that feels both timeless and functional.
The result is more than a restored home. It is a space where history, innovation and functionality coexist in harmony.
