In Bangalore’s vibrant cityscape, The Canyon Campus underlines the importance of modernity and sustainability in a workplace environment. This 6 Ha masterplan project embodies a vision of a new energetic and creative workplace experience, provides contemporary and exciting civic space, and will make a new standout Bangalore development.

The Canyon Campus is characterised by its soft corners and striking façade. The building’s soft corners infuse it with elegance and fluidity, while the façade exudes transparency and connectivity. This design invites the outside world into the workspace and fosters a sense of openness and collaboration.

The design elements implemented in The Canyon Campus demonstrate a deep understanding of sustainability, wellness and aesthetics. The masterplan is innovative and future-ready, reducing natural resource consumption, positively impacting occupant comfort and health and minimising strain on local infrastructure.

Understanding The Site

The project site is strategically located 500 meters from the nearest metro station and close to an upcoming monorail, making it highly accessible. Its strengths include excellent connectivity, maximum plot utilisation, and excellent views of a nearby park, which add to its allure.

However, the site also presents specific challenges, such as imposing, monotonous, long frontage and corner spaces that lack sufficient light.

It is crucial to develop a well-thought-out space planning strategy. To address these challenges, the design needs to focus on creating an energetic workplace environment with public areas for socialising and relaxation. This will require careful consideration of the layout, lighting, and use of available space to ensure that the final design is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Organic Curves of The Canyon Campus

Organic curves of The Canyon Campus

_

The concept for The Canyon Campus was an organic curve design with a striking facade. We aim to create a strong and unique identity for the building while overcoming its challenges.

We have used soft curves that break the mass and avoid a monotonous long frontage to achieve an aesthetically pleasing look. Introducing terraces with green spaces further enhances the connection with nature and creates a more inviting and comfortable environment.

Passive design strategies were implemented for energy efficiency and occupant comfort. Our design considers the sun-path orientation, shading, and window-to-wall ratio. These passive design strategies reduce energy consumption and boost occupant well-being and productivity, making them a crucial factor in office building design.

Moreover, integrating greenery and water-use strategies can enhance building performance by mitigating heat gain and promoting a healthy indoor environment. These strategies play a significant role in creating a sustainable and eco-friendly building.

Blurring The Boundaries Between Indoors and Outdoors

The Canyon Campus’s exterior features unitized glazing and aquamarine accents, creating an inviting workspace. Extensive use of glass provides transparency and blurs the boundary between the interior and exterior, allowing for unobstructed views of the surrounding lush environment.

The curtain wall system with a frit pattern offers a lightweight solution, making it ideal for buildings where transparency and natural light are essential. With panoramic views of the outdoors, the building promotes a sense of connection with nature, blurring the boundaries between the indoors and outdoors.

Prioritising The Employee Experience at The Canyon Campus

Sustainable and vibrant workplace - The Canyon Campus

_

The Canyon Campus is a next-generation, modern office space that prioritises nature to create a productive and healthy work environment. The interior is flooded with natural light, creating a refreshing atmosphere.

The urban campus is designed to promote collaboration, innovation, and flexibility. With diverse settings, from open plazas to secluded nooks, it offers collaborative spaces for interaction and inspiration.

Connecting The Canyon Campus to another large workplace campus, was a requirement. To this, we proposed an overpass connection. Aside from being a traffic overpass, it will also bridge visitors’ crossings, generating foot traffic and connectivity.

The Canyon Campus also features activated rooftops and vibrant communal areas, creating a lively and sustainable ecosystem where workers and visitors can come together to work, play, and thrive. The vibrant urban campus will be home for socialising, meetings, and relaxation, fostering community spirit and enriching lives.

Sustainable Design Approach

The Canyon Campus exemplifies what sustainable workplaces should be. Innovative features have been integrated to reduce the environmental impact and increase energy efficiency. Rooftop urban farming initiatives provide fresh produce, promote biodiversity, and reduce carbon footprint.

Recharge pits and PV panels harness nature’s power to replenish groundwater and generate clean, renewable energy, ensuring that The Canyon Campus operates harmoniously with its surroundings.

A design that integrates sustainable, wellness and aesthetic elements will have many positive impacts on the well-being and productivity of its users.
