Modular Eco-Cabins: Redefining Nature Tourism

Introduction:
SOG design, in collaboration with the company Emhotik, presents a study of volumetric prototypes for implementation in various locations closely connected to nature. Emohtik has been developing prefabricated modules in Southeast Asia for years. This is a modular study of prefabricated cabins made from Cross Laminated Timber (CLT). The objective of this project is to create modules that can be installed in diverse locations, from the majestic European Pyrenees to the beautiful Mediterranean coasts and the captivating lands of Southeast Asia.

The Evolution of Nature Tourism:
The concept of camping has evolved into new experiences that combine intimate contact with nature and maximum comfort. We are witnessing an alternative tourism that encompasses nature, adventure, ecotourism, rural tourism, and cultural experiences. This project is born in response to the growing demand for accommodations that provide an authentic connection with nature without compromising comfort.

Modular Versatility:
The key to this project lies in modularity. Industrialized and assembled volumes allow for exceptional flexibility, adapting to various programmatic situations and geographic locations. The design transcends orthogonality and the pre-established concepts associated with modular construction, creating a unique architectural masterpiece.

The Power of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT): A fundamental element in this project is the use of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) in construction. CLT allows for the manufacturing of panels, sheets, and surfaces, simplifying the creation of long-span enclosures and walls. Its exceptional thermal insulation capacity surpasses other conventional materials, meaning a considerable thickness of concrete is needed to match its energy efficiency.

Mobility and Ease of Transport: Mobility is essential in tourism, and these cabins are designed with this need in mind. CLT sheets are cut into pieces that allow for transportation by road in containers or low-platform trucks, facilitating their installation in a variety of geographic locations.

This project, carried out by SOG design, represents a significant innovation in the field of nature and adventure tourism. With its modular approach, avant-garde design, and commitment to sustainability, these cabins offer a unique experience for travelers seeking harmony between nature and luxury. This project is a testament to delicacy and harmony in architecture, providing an elegant solution for accommodation in exceptional natural environments.
