Located in the picturesque village of Cretas in Teruel, Spain, Casa Cretas is inspired by the traditional buildings of the area. The plot covers around 13.5 hectares and measures roughly 480 meters long and 320 meters wide.
Positioned at the highest point of the site, the house provides stunning open views of the surrounding landscape and the nearby village of Arnes. This placement also guarantees optimal solar orientation, allowing the building to blend seamlessly into the landscape. The house faces south, maximising natural light throughout the day.

Design Concept
Inspired by the traditional architecture of the region, the project adopts simple volumes and natural materials such as stone, lime, and wood, connecting the home to its local identity.
The goal is to reinterpret the essence of rural farmhouses through a contemporary lens: creating a functional, calm, and welcoming home in constant dialogue with the landscape.

The house adapts to the land’s natural conditions, respecting the existing topography and minimising its environmental impact. Passive design strategies have been prioritised: orientation, wind protection, solar exposure, and a fluid connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.
