The project is situated on bustling Mount Road, providing convenient access to major cities in Chennai. Moreover, its location offers an opportunity to leverage its high visibility and transform Brigade Icon into a vibrant destination.

The design concept of Brigade Icon is rooted in the harmonious blend of abstraction and contemporary interpretation of heritage gemstone textures. Drawing inspiration from gemstones’ significant place in Indian culture, the building’s façade showcases intricate patterns and geometric compositions.

The juxtaposition of contrasting elements, such as textured surfaces with smooth panels and bold colours with subtle gradients, creates a sense of visual tension and dynamism on the facade. Terracotta ceramic cladding evokes natural textures and earthy tones often found in gemstones. Furthermore, textured paint walls can enhance depth and variation, mimicking the subtle imperfections and colour gradients within gemstones.

The long and narrow site posed a significant challenge in accommodating the diverse functions of a mixed-use development.

To address this issue, we divided the project into two towers. One tower was designated for residential use, while the other was meant for commercial and office spaces (facing Anna Salai). This division allowed for a more efficient site plan, improving the distribution of functions. A separate entrance and lobby for the residential tower clearly distinguished public and private areas.

The two Brigade Icon towers are connected by a pavilion to seamlessly integrate the development’s different functions. The towers’ strategic orientation and façade design introduce ample light and natural ventilation, creating a comfortable and airy environment for both residents and office users. Additionally, the orientation provides stunning city skyline and sea views.

The perforated metal panels of Brigade Icon create a feeling of lightness and transparency, similar to the way light interacts with a cut gem.

Incorporating transparency into the design of the building’s façade was crucial as it visually extended the retail space outward. This transparency allows natural light to flow into the retail areas, creating an inviting atmosphere for shoppers and improving the visibility of retail stores from the outside.

Brigade Icon offers a wide range of modern amenities and facilities, including street retail, a casual dining hall, multipurpose outdoor pavilions, and landscaped gardens. Additionally, the development maximises vertical space with an exclusive sky restaurant, residents-only roof terrace amenities, and penthouse units.

The urban landscape integrates with nature to create a tranquil atmosphere. Green spaces and a focus on a healthy lifestyle are emphasised throughout, and extending greenery to higher levels enhances this effect.

Brigade Icon is distinguished by its unique and innovative features that not only reduce environmental impact but also encourage eco-friendly practices.

The development’s design incorporates natural ventilation and green spaces, ensuring optimal airflow and light in both residential and commercial areas. Special attention is paid to solar orientation and the integration of green elements, such as sky gardens and terraces, creating a sustainable and comfortable environment.
