The Alwalidain Mosque Area Regeneration project is a transformative initiative aimed at redefining the urban space surrounding a beautiful mosque. By enhancing both the spiritual and monumental presence of the mosque, the design fosters a seamless balance between urban functionality and tranquillity.
A carefully curated network of walkways, shaded areas, and contemplative spaces invites movement and reflection, creating a harmonious interaction between the built environment and the natural landscape. This approach revitalises the public realm, offering a welcoming and serene experience for worshippers and visitors alike.
Landscape and Topographical Integration
The project embraces the site’s natural topography, creating stepped terraces that follow the land’s natural slope. This solution enhances spatial variety and respects the area’s natural character.
Key landscape and design elements include:
- Topographically integrated leisure areas, utilising elevation changes to create distinct spaces for relaxation, reflection, and sports.
- Shaded zones are strategically placed to enhance comfort while preserving openness and visual connectivity.
- Sustainable and locally sourced materials, including rammed earth, wood, and vegetation, reinforce the project’s commitment to ecological harmony.
